The couple also enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. Mavis & Charles attended many concerts and also were fond of Andrew Lloyd Weber shows. She also loved to watch Clydesdale Horses and was able to attend shows and visit Clydesdale farms throughout her retirement. Mavis was an avid reader, member of The Shady Ladies Book Club and devout reader of the bible. She enjoyed walking the beaches looking for sea shells and Mavis & her husband, along with friends and relatives at times, traveled thousands of miles on bike trails in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida over the years.
