Elaine Vienneau Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Elaine Vienneau announces her passing on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born December 7, 1940, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Margaret (Burhoe) Fawcett.


Following her graduation from the Saint John General School of Nursing, Elaine worked as a Registered Nurse for 44 years. She was a Past President of NBGI Nurse’s Association, a member of the NBARN (Association of Registered Nurses), Past Secretary of the Saint John General School of Nursing Alumni, a volunteer with the Chair of Health Promotion Committee with the Canadian Cancer Society, and a Past Executive Member of PROBUS.


Elaine was the subject of the book, “A Blessing In Disguise”, the story of how she overcame a 4% chance of surviving skin cancer, and received a Certificate of Recognition of her meritorious services to the nursing profession upon her retirement.


Elaine is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Jorden-Hayward (Reg) and Krista Friars (Jonathan); step-sons, Tony and Stephen Vienneau and their spouses; grandchildren: Laura DeMerchant (Pat), Lee DeMerchant (Dan), Kaleb Friars (Tasha), and Jacob Friars; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Friars; step-grandchildren: Quinn, Avery, Xavier, Arielle, and Maxime Vienneau; her aunt, Leota Sullivan; brother, David Fawcett; sisters: Donna Northrup, Debbie Gallant (Gary), and Barbara Cook (Malcolm); best friend for over 60 years, Carol Johnson; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.


She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bob Vienneau; son, Stephen Jorden; sisters, Isabell and Linda Fawcett; brother, Murray Fawcett; and half-sisters, Shirley Smith and Carolyn Dennerlein.


Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), where visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 2 to 6 pm. A funeral service celebrating Elaine’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11 am from Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent.
