Mrs. Betty L. Childs, age 91, of Griffin, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Brightmoor Hospice.
Betty was born in Griffin, Georgia on June 14, 1934. Her parents, Elbert Henderson Laney and Mary Roberta English Laney; husband, James Allen Childs; and son, Jepp Childs, all preceded her in death. She was retired from the Griffin-Spalding County School System, and a member of the Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Cyndy Hemphill (John) and Laurie James (Rick); daughter-in-law, Karen Childs; grandchildren, Robby James (Vanessa), Matthew James, John Hemphill, Jr. (Marissa), Christopher Hemphill, Jennifer Patel (Misal), Candice Hohenstein (Robert), and Cameron Childs (Ashley); and great-grandchildren, Tanner, Chloe, Aurora, Hazel, Riley, Abbie Ruth, and River.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm in Oak Hill Cemetery, section E-3.
