John Foster Morrow Obituary

John Morrow, 88, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at Bishop Hills Assisted Living in Rockford, Michigan. Born in Covington, Kentucky, to Henry and Nell Morrow on July 25, 1937, John’s life was marked by faith in Jesus, a love for people, and a deep commitment to service.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati and began his professional journey as a chemist. However, a deeper spiritual calling led him to Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, where he graduated summa cum laude and received both the President's and Dean's Awards.

During seminary, John served as Assistant Pastor at First Baptist Church in Howard City, Michigan. He later planted a church in Oxford, Ohio where he pastored for many years, then served as Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in Elkhart, Indiana. Eventually, John and his wife, Kay, moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to be near their grandchildren. John continued his ministry there as a fundraiser for Spanish World Ministries.

John valued people and sought to express the love of Jesus to everyone he met. His heart for missions took him beyond borders-he made several trips to Honduras to help rebuild homes destroyed by landslides, offering comfort and compassion to the people there.

A lifelong student of Scripture, John was adept at reading Greek and Hebrew. He even authored and published a commentary on the Book of Proverbs after his retirement.

John was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his son, Michael Morrow; daughter, Ruth Henderson; son-in-law, John Henderson; and grandsons, Nathan Henderson and Samuel Henderson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Morrow; daughter-in-law, Mary Morrow; and sister, Beulah Anstaett.

May John’s legacy of faith and his love of people continue to inspire those who knew him, and may his memory be a testimony of God’s faithfulness, love, and grace.

There will be a small memorial open house with close friends and family at a later date, still to be determined.

In lieu of flowers or planting of a tree, the family asks that you consider a donation to Bishop Hills Assisted Living Lifetime Promise Fund: https://baruchsls-bishop-hills.kindful.com/
