Frank Eric Barnes passed peacefully away after a brief illness on Friday, October 3, 2025, aged 90 years.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen (nee Cake), and his parents Harold and Laura Jane Barnes, brother Theodore, and sister Enid Strong.
Leaving to mourn are his children, Karen Rose (John), Darrell (Kim), and step-daughter Rowena Strickland, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Remembered fondly by extended family members of the Barnes and Cake families and his friends in Topsail, Kelligrews, and beyond. Also sharing in our loss is his dedicated home support worker, Nadine, whose care and companionship meant the world to him and his family over the last several months.
Dad was an extremely hard worker who made his livelihood in carpentry, building houses over the years. When he wasn’t working, he found joy at his cabin in Terra Nova or puttering around his shed, where there was always an endless supply of leisurely projects to tackle.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Sunday, October 5th, from 4-7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th at 10:00 am from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Topsail. Inurnment will immediately follow the service.
No flowers by request, donations in Frank’s Memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
