It is with great sadness that we share the passing of John Patrick Cook (“Cookie”), born October 13, 1944, and passed on October 2, 2025.
Predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Gordon, siblings Gordon, Anna, Madonna, and Elizabeth, and his dear friend Rudy Laite.
John leaves behind a lifetime of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Gail; his loving children Jay (Alison), Brian (Anna), and Gina; his brother Philip; and, most dearly, his six grandchildren, Stella, Norah, Lily, Russell, Emma, and Sebastian, who knew him as their beloved “Poppy.”
John’s warmth and humour touched everyone who knew him. He had a wide circle of friends, built over 28 years working at Molson Brewery, countless trips to Gambo Pond, many happy hours on the golf course, lively weekly card games, and his daily visits to Crocker’s Garage. Wherever he went, Cookie brought joy with his gift for telling a good joke, his quick wit, and his endless supply of puns.
Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Saturday, October 11th, and Sunday, October 12th, 2025, from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 am. To view virtually click HERE
John will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose laughter and genuine kindness made the world brighter. His memory will live on in all those who were lucky enough to share in his life.
-If I don’t see you through the week, I’ll see you through the window. -John Cook
