Candida Ann Duarte-Gomes, a cherished resident Carver, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29th at Palm Bay Community Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Gregory Paul Gomes, mother of the late Ryan A. Duarte, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Born on November 17, 1954, in Taunton, Massachusetts, Candida was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Barboza) Duarte. She was the sister of the late Melvin Barboza, Sr. and Rodney Robinson, Sr.
Candida is survived by her loving son, Ross Duarte and her beloved grandchildren Zachary Taylor, Alyssa Duarte, Anthony Duarte and Lincoln Duarte. As well as her great granddaughter Taytum Taylor.
In addition to her immediate family, Candida is survived by sisters Sharyn Moss, Ellie Costa, Lynne Wilkert and brother Tod Duarte.
She is also survived by her Godson and nephew Rodney Robinson as well as nephews Glenn Barboza, Mel Barboza, Eric Duarte, Shawn Robinson, Brandon Duarte, Matthew Duarte, Treyson Duarte and her nieces Alana Barboza, Carey Robinson, Marsella Imonti, Alicia Costa her Goddaughter Deanna Silva and her amazing great nieces and nephews.
Candida was educated in Taunton, where she formed lasting friendships and a deep connection to her Cape Verdean community. Candida was known for her work ethic, her quick wit and her sense of humor. She lived her life with a fierce sense of independence, and she loved her family and friends deeply. She touched the lives of everyone she met.
Visiting hours will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, located at 373 Court St., North Plymouth (near Cordage Park), on Friday, October 10th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, October 11th, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Carver, followed by burial at Plymouth County Cemetery in Plymouth.
Candida's legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
