Dennis C. Day Obituary

Dennis C. Day, 77, of Cairo passed away on September 12, 2025.

Born in Brooklyn to the late David and Marguerite Day.

Dennis proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1967-1971 and was deployed to Vietnam where he fought for his country.

He met his future wife at a disco tech in Manhattan, and they were married two years later. Dennis spent time working at Misericordia Hospital and performing as the talented bass player of a country band that played all around New York City. Soon after their daughter Renee was born, the family moved to Cairo, NY where Dennis lived an exciting and fulfilling country life. He worked hard for his family and continued to perform as a country singer and bass player upstate. He ran a rabbit farm and was the leader of a popular and beloved 4-H group called Rockin’ Rabbits for many years.

Dennis loved to laugh. He had a great sense of humor, and he particularly enjoyed fart jokes. He loved tropical fish and maintained many beautiful fish tanks with various types of fish. He enjoyed many foods in his life, but his three all-time favorites were tuna, potatoes, and Diet Coke. Fortunately, Dennis got to enjoy these even on the day of his passing.

Survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Palma Day of Cairo; daughter Renee; sister Faith; and niece Rebecca.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, September 29 at 12:00 pm at the Town

of Catskill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home, 139 Jefferson Heights, Catskill.
