Gary Cooper Obituary

COOPER, Gary

July 27, 1956 - September 21, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Cooper, who left us peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. Gary was 69 years old.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Gary lived his life with a deep and unwavering love for his family. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, sharing a laugh around the kitchen table, or simply being there when it mattered most, Gary’s presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those who knew him.

A true grill master, Gary believed that the best memories were made around a BBQ, with the smell of smoke in the air and laughter echoing through the backyard. His legendary ribs, secret marinade, and perfectly cooked chicken-to-die-for brought together family and friends time and time again. To Gary, every cookout was more than just a meal — it was a celebration of togetherness.

But it was his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor that truly set him apart. Gary had the rare gift of making anyone feel at ease, armed with a clever joke, a warm smile, and an ability to find light in even the darkest moments. His sharp one-liners and hilarious nicknames will live on in the stories told by those lucky enough to have known him.

Gary’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and strength. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the joy of sharing life’s journey with him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann (nee Murphy), his children, Mark (Jennifer), and Mary-Ann (Adam), his grandchildren, Kinsley, Benett and Gregory, and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever miss his warmth, his wisdom, and his signature wit.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at the Restaurant On The Knoll - Isaiah Tubbs Resort, 1642 County Road 12, Picton, on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 1-4 pm with a Time of Sharing and Memories at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to "Back the Build" in support of the new Picton Memorial Hospital (www.pecmhf.ca) A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nursing staff, especially Jessie, and Doctors Baldwin, Marleau and Leblanc.

Rest easy, Gary. The grill won’t be the same without you.
