Mr. Jimmy James Long was born to the late Eugene Long and Mary Mayo in Aiken, South Carolina in 1939. At an early age, he joined Union Baptist Church, where he began his walk of faith that would guide him throughout his life. Jimmy attended Martha Schofield High School. He was employed with Aiken County for over 30 years, retiring in 2000 after his many years of dedicated service. Jimmy was united in wedlock with Thelma Long for 63 years. During his lifetime, he was blessed with five children: Lisa, Mary, Arlene, Denise, and Moreland. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, children, Myrtis Denise (Long) Jones, and Moreland Long, as well as four brothers and one sister. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving wife, Thelma Long; his beloved children; Lisa (Patrick) Smith, Mary (Lenwood) Long, Arlene (Leroy) Gilchrist; a host of grandchildren: Chearse Toole, Maurice Long, Tronisha Sullivan, Jermard Long, Kiara Sullivan, Kendrick Bryant, Xavier Smith, Chaunlataye Jones, Louis Jones Jr., Javarie Smith, Alex Smith Jr., Jamarious Jones; thirteen great-grandchildren; one good friend, Gus Stevens; and a host of other relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and loving friends.
