John Willie Thurmond was born on August 4, 1949, in Tchula, Mississippi. He was the beloved
son of the late Louise Thurmond and Almeta Thurmond Bronax, and he spent his early years in
Tchula, where he grew up surrounded by family, friends, and the close-knit community he
cherished.
He attended Tchula Attendance Center for his education and was a faithful member of Rock of
Ages Church of God in Christ during his time there. His upbringing in Tchula shaped his values
of hard work, faith, and commitment to family.
In 1989, John made the decision to move to Chicago, Illinois, where he began a new chapter in
his life. While living in Chicago, he continued to carry his Mississippi roots with him, always
proud of where he came from.
John was united in marriage to Linda Boyd, and together they built a life of love and partnership.
From this union, two children were born: Anita Thurmond and Tracy Thurmond, who were
the joy of his life.
John will be remembered for his kind heart, his steady presence, and the love he shared with his
family and friends. Though his earthly journey has ended, his memory will live on forever in the
hearts of those who loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Linda Boyd Thurmond; his two children,
Anita and Tracy Thurmond; sisters Annie Mae Brown, Claudine Wilson, Sylvia Bronax,
Christine Broadnax, Mary Ann Bronax. Brothers, Robert Thurmond, Harry Thurmond, Tillman
Thurmond, John Bronax along with a host of relatives, church family, and friends. He is
preceded in death by sister Maxine Bronax and brothers Willie D Thurmond, Roosevelt
Thurmond and Lewis Thurmond.
