DR. NORMAN ROY SHORE

We regret to announce the passing of Norman Roy Shore, Marion Bridge, (formerly of Glace Bay) Nova Scotia, which occurred on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, N.S.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Fruma and Isadore Shore, also of Glace Bay, N.S.

He is survived by his brothers, Gary and Jack (Karen), sister, Sharon Jacobson (Stanley) and nephews, Matthew & Jonah Jacobson (Riva) and Zachary Shore.

Norman was a graduate of McGill University with a Bachelor of Science and Dalhousie University with a Medical Degree. He served as a medical officer in both the Departments of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs, in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and P.E.I., attaining the rank of Major and retiring after 20 years in military service and 10 years in the civil service.

Norm was well-known and cherished for his eccentricities and for his recall of details, including the memorization of the lyrics to many songs of which he was particularly fond.

Very special thanks to caregiver Frank Mombourquette for his devotion and to the staff at Shannex, Parkland and Harbourstone, in Sydney and at 4North Glace Bay Hospital for their support and kindness.

A graveside service for Dr. Norman Shore will be held Tuesday, September 16, 11:00 am at the Sons of Israel Cemetery, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. A reception will be held at the Simon Hotel in Sydney after the burial ceremony. Directions to the cemetery: If you are coming toward Glace Bay from Sydney you will come to Wilson Road which is in Reserve. Follow it to when it becomes Dominion Street in Glace Bay. If you get to Brookside St. you have gone too far
