Sutherland, Sandra Arleen (neeGillis)

It is with great sadness, and immense love, that we announce the passing of Sandra Arleen (Gillis) Sutherland, formerly of Runnymede, QC. Predeceased by her parents Boyd and Louise (Legere) Gillis and siblings Rachel, Michelle and Boyd John.

Beloved mother of Kimberly Sutherland-Crossman (Todd), Michael Sutherland (Krystal), and Shawn Sutherland (Liza). Proud grandmother of Ryan, Christopher, Samantha, Keara, Jack, Isla, Nicolas, Andrew, Spencer and Charlotte, and great grandmother of Parker, Jaxon, Charlie, Barrett, Olson, Louie, Elden and Nash.

Sandra graduated from nursing in 1962 and dedicated more than five decades to caring for others in Campbellton, NB, and Brockville, ON, before retiring at 75. She was the heart and foundation of her family-our matriarch, our steady guide, and our fiercest protector. She will be remembered for her extraordinary strength, her grace and poise, her deep compassion, and for speaking her mind with a wit and wisdom that reminded us she was usually right.

To know Sandra was to know resilience, love, and laughter. Her legacy lives on in the generations she raised, in the countless lives she touched as a nurse, and in the many stories we'll continue to tell-stories that will bring both tears and laughter, just as she would have wanted.
