Marlys L. Johnson Obituary

Marlys Johnson, born December 29, 1934, as Lillian Marlys Good, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2025, at the age of 90. Marlys grew up in Cottage Grove, WI and was one of three children born to Charlotte and Kenneth Good.

Marlys graduated from East High School in 1953 and married her high school sweetheart, Doug Johnson on November 27, 1954; they had two sons, David and Dustin. Marlys found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Whether attending sporting events or heading out on family fishing trips, she treasured every moment spent together. Marlys also found much happiness in spending time with her granddaughter, Jenny, of whom she was extremely proud.

Living on Lake Kegonsa, Marlys had fond memories of the many parties, gatherings with family and friends, and of course, fishing. In recent years, Marlys spent time sitting by the lake and looked forward to family dinners, celebrations, and visits with friends. Her sense of adventure, laughter and unwavering support made her a steady presence in the lives of those she loved.

Marlys worked in the banking industry for 15 years before pursuing a successful career in real estate where she was the recipient of many awards. She was known for not only her strong work ethic and professionalism, but also for her straightforward, but warm, personal touch. Her dedication to helping others find their homes for 40 years earned her deep respect, many repeat customers, and lasting friendships.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Doug, and her sister, Jean (John) Johnson. She is survived by her brother, Blake (Leanne) Good; her two sons David (Mari) and Dustin (Katy); her granddaughter Jenny (Justin), as well as many other cherished family members and friends. Her life was a testament to the power of family, strong friendships, hard work, and simple joys – she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In honor of Marlys, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 18, 2025, from 10am to 2pm at Stoughton Country Club, located at 3165 Shadyside Drive, Stoughton, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Marlys. https://www.stjude.org/

When tomorrow starts without me…. please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand. The angel said my place is ready in heaven far above, and I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. When I walked through heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. God looked down and smiled at me and said, “Welcome Home.”
