Janie Fraser Obituary

Janie Frances (Hancock) Fraser, 72, of Upper LaHave, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater with her family by her side. Born in Pool’s Cove, NL. She was a daughter of the late Murdock and Selina (Vaters) Hancock. Janie was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother. Although she left Newfoundland at the age of 15 she was a proud Newfoundlander and lovingly shared stories of “home”. She also enjoyed a good clean Newfie joke, knitting, and she was a gifted accordion player. She accepted Jesus as her Saviour in 1982 and early on in her walk with the Lord, before moving to British Columbia in 1992, she was a member of New Life Christian Church volunteering her time as captain of the church’s prayer chain, Women’s Ministries and teaching Sunday School. With great happiness, Janie returned to Nova Scotia in 1999 and spent the remaining years of her life surrounded by those she loved the most. Janie is survived by her husband Wayne; daughters, Sherry (Dale) Whynacht, Bridgewater, Lisa, Upper LaHave, Charmaine (Jeffrey) Haines, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Sid (Daniel Robinson), Halifax, Matthew Whynacht, Dartmouth, sisters, Laura Savory, Bridgewater, Maudie (Philip) Savory, Back Centre as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Levi, Charles and Robert. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. #3, Lunenburg and from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 7 – 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the New Life Christian Church, 42 Elm Street, Bridgewater, Pastor Keith Ferreira officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Middle LaHave Cemetery, Middle LaHave. In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia would be appreciated by the family. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
