Jacqueline E Edwards Obituary

Where to begin?

Jacqueline was an unconventional and unique individual who liked to defy boundaries. Anyone who knew her, knew of her fearless nature which often times involved sketchy adventures and risky endeavors for maximum results! She always had a story or anecdote to share and could connect with anyone.

Jacqueline was never one to shy away from a challenge and her professional achievements are a testament to this. She followed her dreams of becoming a physician, first earning an undergraduate degree in gerontology as well as a degree in ancient archaeology. While in school she participated in an ancient dig in Finland, and her work on this has been published. Her interest in people and culture led her to continue her education in medicine, graduating from NOSM and becoming a family physician in Thunder Bay.

Practicing medicine was her dream and she took great pride in her chosen field. “Dr. Edwards” was known as a compassionate physician who took the time to listen to those she served and who advocated passionately for their health and for the profession as a whole.

Jacqueline had a varied and eclectic choice of hobbies. She was a well-rounded scuba diver, a master skydiver, a world traveler, and she loved her cars. Her love of music inevitably turned her into an avid concert goer and collector of music memorabilia.

Her passion for sports was another big part of her life. She was a hockey fanatic and a skilled player, at one time being in a position to play professionally with Team Canada’s women’s hockey team.

Although her time with us was too short, Jacqueline led a vibrant life and connected with so many. She would want us to follow our passions and pursuits with the same fire that burned in her. She will be terribly missed, and will always be remembered with love and laughter. Many thanks to the amazing family and friends that rallied around her for support, for her and for each other. The generosity of love and time has been greatly appreciated. Her sweet fur babies, Milo, Riddle, Monkey, and Isaac will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Jacqueline's life will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 with words of tribute beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 North Court Street.  In lieu of flowers or cards, those wishing to do so are encouraged to make a donation in her name to the Northern Cancer Fund. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
