Mary Rita Sondgeroth, 94 of Mendota passed away June 16, 2019 in the Mendota Lutheran Home. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:30 in Holy Cross church. Rev. Fulgens Rutatekururwa will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Cross cemetery. Mary Rita was born November 11, 1924 in Spring Valley to Martin and Augusta (Heilgeist) O'Sadnick. She married Lester Sondgeroth on February 10, 1943 in Holy Cross church. During her work career she was a clerk/manager for the Mendota Sports Shop. Mary Rita was a member of the Ladies Bowling League at the Elks, the Holy Cross parent club for 26 consecutive years, the Altar and Rosary Society, and Holy Cross Church. Survivors include one son: Dru (Brenda) Sondgeroth of Fulton, Missouri; two daughters: Debra Peters of Chandler, Arizona and Denise (Duane) Burnette of Mendota; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded by: her husband on 6/2/2010; one daughter: Diana in 1978; one son: Dean in 1974; 3 brothers: Arthur, Cornelius and Cletus O'Sadnick, and one sister: Dorothy Guilfoyle. Memorials can be directed to Holy Cross School and Holy Cross Cemetery.
