Quejada - Rodolfo “Rudy” Quejada, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Elmont, New York. He was born in 1934 in Cebu City, Philippines. Rudy came to America as an immigrant and immediately loved his new adopted country, of which he remained faithful and loyal to, to the very end. He enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer and was a prominent figure at SUNY Downstate Medical University. While at SUNY, Rudy and a group of engineers formed the Filipino American Association of Engineers, the first of its kind in in the Tri State Area. Rudy was elected President to address the difficult plight of Filipino Engineers in the US, an underrepresented group. After retiring from Downstate, Rudy spent his winters at the family farm in Florida where he raised chickens and went fishing, but most importantly, he made friends with strangers. Rudy loved to smile "Big", laugh, and make people feel at ease. However, Rudy did not stop working. He continued to serve his local parish, St. Boniface Church of Elmont, New York by making repairs to their boiler system and numerous projects to help the church run smoothly. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, Sulpicio and Rustica Quejada; and younger sister, Thelma Suson.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Nellie Quejada; daughters, Athena (Johan) Aldeweireldt, Venus Day; beloved sister-in-law, Evelyn (Romy) Gandionco; dearest friend, Rudy (Connie) Quiambao; sisters, Elsa Villordon, Emma Gacayan, Mila Ouano; and numerous nephews and nieces whom he ALL adored.
The tribute above was prepared by Rudy’s loving family.
