George E. Babcock Obituary

Longtime resident of Post Falls, George E. Babcock passed on to his eternal home June 5, 2019. George was born on December 12, 1928 in Mott, North Dakota to Clyde T. and Verda (Bentley) Babcock. His parents divorced when he was ten years old. He was raised by his father, and his mother had his younger brother, Morrie, with her. George married Clara and they had one son, Clyde, but they divorced when Clyde was one year old. George raised Clyde and they moved around with his father. Coming to Belle Fouche, South Dakota, he met and married Gladys Wendt. Thus began 65 years together. Their son, Steven, was born and then the family moved to North Idaho, eventually settling on a small acreage. George worked various jobs. He retired from the Post Falls School District after serving as custodian and bus driver. Two more sons, Mark and Ben, joined the family. An infant son, Philip, died at birth. George and Gladys were members of the Nazarene Church, though had also attended the McGuire Wesleyan Church in Post Falls and the Starr Baptist Church in Otis Orchards, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; infant son, Philip; sons, Clyde and Mark; and his brother, Morrie. He is survived by son, Steve (Chris); son, Ben; ten grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. These last years George spent at Guardian Angel Homes in Post Falls, being lovingly care for by their staff. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Yates Funeral Home – Coeur d’ Alene Chapel, 744 N. 4th St., C oeur d’ Alene, ID. A viewing will be from 1:30 – 2:00 PM. A private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park, Spokane, WA.
