Mary Katherine Prince, age 96, of Grand Rapids, died on Thursday June 6, 2019.  She is survived by her children; Dick and Brenda, Dave and Patrice, and Jan and John Gebben; daughters-in-law Helena Prince, and Kathy Prince; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Esther Penninga; and sister-in-law Dorothy Ondersma.  Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert; sons, Thomas and William; and companion, Richard Post.  Mary left Calvin College during WWII to get married.  Dad promised her that he would let her finish her degree so after 4 kids, she graduated from Calvin College with her teaching degree, then earned her master’s degree in education from Michigan State University and was a teacher for many years.  She had many different jobs over the years but teaching kindergarten was her first love.  Later, she worked in sales for the family business, Prince Marketing.  After retiring, she and her husband, Bob, went to China where they taught English and led Bible studies.  Mom had a true gift of hospitality and made friends easily and was loved by all that knew her.  The memorial service will be Saturday, June 22, 11 AM, at Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE).  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from 10-11 AM.  In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Mary, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to World Renew.
