 In Loving Memory of Eulalia “Carmen” Herrera

 A Life of Love, Laughter, and Faith

Eulalia, known by her friends and family as “Carmen”, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the age of 71. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who found peace surrounded by the love of her dear family.

Born in the Dominican Republic to Ignacio and Ysabel Herrera, Eulalia immigrated to the United States in 1973 alongside her then-husband, Carlos F. Nuñez. After residing briefly in Washington Heights, NY, she settled in Lawrence, MA, where she spent many years building a life and devoting herself to her children. Later in life, she worked as a health home aide for the elderly, a role that reflected her innate altruism and drive to support those in need.

Eulalia’s life was a testament to selflessness, strength, and faith. A deeply loving and generous sister, she served as the conduit to her family during her early years as a single mother, guiding her siblings to the U.S. in hopes of a more fruitful life and sacrificing what little she had to ensure each person around her thrived. Eulalia was the embodiment of resilience—no matter what obstacles life threw her way, she drew upon her unshakable faith and faced them head on with strength, dignity, humor, and grace. Even in the face of profound adversity, her devotion and love for God never faltered.

A sharp mind, Eulalia could recall the most obscure memories in impressive detail and could always be relied upon to know the birthdays of every single family and extended family member. She had a cheerful sense of humor and a gift for witty remarks, delivered with a knowing smile. She enjoyed playing cards, solving puzzles, watching game shows, reading, engaging in long, meaningful conversations with family and friends and was gifted at preparing large hearty meals that nourished both body and spirit. She loved attending church services and found great joy congregating with others and forming lasting connections with those around her.

Eulalia was deeply cherished and will be missed beyond description. Her legacy of resilience, warmth, and generosity lives on in her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, siblings, extended family, and all who had the joy of knowing her.

Eulalia is survived by her siblings Fé, Anastasio, Venecia, Juana, Julio, Eusebio, Antonio, Dario, Miguel, Gladys, Inocensio, Eulalio, Elizabeth, and Augustin; her children, Carlos, Yuverka, Rebecca, Danny, Aneudi, and Yakira and their spouses; 15 grandchildren; and one great grandson. She is predeceased by her siblings Lionel, Esperanza, and Domingo.

Though we all mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman whose love knew no bounds, we can find comfort knowing that she has found peace in the arms of her Savior.

Eulalia, conocida por sus amigos y familiares como “Carmen”, falleció el Jueves, 21 de agosto de 2025 a la edad de 71 años. Fue una madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana y amiga amorosa que encontró la paz rodeada del amor de su querida familia.

Nacida en la República Dominicana, hija de Ignacio y Ysabel Herrera, Eulalia emigró a los Estados Unidos a principio de los años 1970 junto a su entonces esposo, Carlos F. Nuñez. Tras residir brevemente en Washington Heights, NY, se estableció en Lawrence, MA, donde pasó muchos años construyendo una vida y dedicándose a sus hijos. Más adelante en su vida, trabajó como asistente de salud domiciliaria para personas mayores, un rol que reflejaba su altruismo innato y su deseo de apoyar a quienes lo necesitaban.

La vida de Eulalia fue un testimonio de abnegación, fortaleza y fe. Como hermana profundamente amorosa y generosa, fue el vínculo de unión de su familia durante sus primeros años como madre soltera, guiando a sus hermanos hacia los Estados Unidos con la esperanza de una vida más fructífera y sacrificando lo poco que tenía para asegurar que cada persona a su alrededor prosperara. Eulalia fue el ejemplo de la resiliencia: sin importar los obstáculos que la vida le presentara, recurría a su fe inquebrantable y los enfrentaba con fuerza, dignidad, humor y gracia. Incluso ante la adversidad más profunda, su devoción y amor por Dios nunca flaquearon.

De mente aguda, Eulalia podía recordar los recuerdos más oscuros con sorprendente detalle y siempre se podía contar con ella para saber las fechas de cumpleaños de cada miembro de la familia, incluyendo los más lejanos. Tenía un sentido del humor alegre y un don para los comentarios ingeniosos, que entregaba con una sonrisa cómplice. Disfrutaba jugar cartas, resolver rompecabezas, ver concursos televisivos, leer, tener largas y significativas conversaciones con familiares y amigos, y tenía un talento especial para preparar abundantes comidas que nutrían tanto el cuerpo como el espíritu. Le encantaba asistir a los servicios religiosos y encontraba gran alegría al congregarse con otros y formar conexiones duraderas con quienes la rodeaban.

Eulalia fue profundamente querida y será extrañada más allá de lo que las palabras pueden expresar. Su legado de resiliencia, calidez y generosidad vive en sus hijos, nietos, bisnieto, hermanos, familia extendida y todos aquellos que tuvieron la dicha de conocerla.

Eulalia deja en vida a sus hermanos Fé, Anastasio, Venecia, Juana, Julio, Eusebio, Antonio, Dario, Miguel, Gladys, Inocensio, Eulalio, Elizabeth y Augustin; sus hijos Carlos, Yuverka, Rebecca, Danny, Aneudi y Yakira y sus respectivos cónyuges; 15 nietos y un bisnieto. Le precedieron en muerte sus hermanos Lionel, Esperanza, y Domingo.

Aunque todos lamentamos la pérdida de una mujer extraordinaria cuyo amor no conocía límites, podemos encontrar consuelo sabiendo que ha encontrado la paz en los brazos de su Salvador.
