James Wesley Parsons 70 of Granite Falls, NC went home to be with The Lord and Savior on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Hickory Falls surrounded by his family. Born July 7, 1948 in Avery County, NC to the late Clarence Edward Parsons, and Gracie Ivalee Odom Parsons, in addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Bryan Gardner, one brother, Glenn Haiggie Parsons, and one sister, Martha Christine Abel. Survivors include his wife of fifty three years, Virginia Ann Abel Parsons of the home, one daughter Teri Gardner and her husband Ric, and their son James Ryan Gardner, brothers include; Tommy Parsons and wife Lori, Clarence Edward Parsons Jr. and wife Brenda, Robert Wayne Parsons and wife Rebecca; sisters include, Joyce Calloway and husband Chris, and Clarice Nelson and husband Lesley. James was retired from Duke Power as an Engineer, a faithful member at First Christian Church of Lenoir. He was an avid pilot, he loved the outdoors and spending quality time with his family. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church of Lenoir with Minister Tommy Parsons officiating, the family will receive from 10:00 till 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in his honor may be made to First Christian Church of Lenoir at 1758 Hickory Blvd. Lenoir, NC, or Caldwell Co.
