Ada Fern (Knight) Hahn Obituary

Ada Fern Hahn nee Knight, 94, of rural Huron, Ohio, passed peacefully into eternity Saturday, May 25th at Firelands Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Brunswick, Missouri to the late Arthur B. Knight and Gladys Mitchell Bennett on August 10th, 1924. She spent her early years in Chariton County, graduating from Keytesville High School, and then moved to Sandusky, Ohio shortly after. She met the love of her life, Elmer E. Hahn, while both worked at the Hinde and Dauch Company. They were married in 1943 at Zion Church in Brunswick, Missouri. “Fern” as she was known, was a country girl by birth and heart and was a homemaker all her life, enjoying gardening, cooking, reading and especially taking care of her family. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and volunteered at the local hospital in times past. She was a good neighbor and friend to all. Fern is survived by her children, Larry (Karen) Hahn of Berlin Heights, Ohio, Terry Hahn of Huron, Ohio and Debra (Kip) Stevens of Shelby, Ohio; grandchildren, David Hahn Jr., Renee Hahn, Heather Hahn, Martina Yurish, Scott Hahn, Bryan Hahn, Gabriel Stevens and Karla Hahn; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, John Knight of Dewitt, Missouri and step-sister, Patsy Bennett Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1990; step-son, David Hahn Sr. in 2009; grandson, Brandon “BJ” Hahn 2013; great-grandson, Mason Williams; brother, Shirley Knight; step-brother, Dick Bennett; sisters Ethel Woodard and Helen Juanita Neidholt; daughters-in-law, Sherri Hahn and Lavenia Faye Hahn. Friends may call on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
