Alice V. Mixter, 91 years old of Tawas, Michigan, passed away on August 16th 2025 surrounded by family. Alice was born on December 21st 1933 in Au Gres, Michigan to Martin and Violet Davis at the family homestead at the end of Davis Road in Arenac County. She graduated from Au Gres High School. Alice was a bookkeeper by trade, and worked for several businesses including Curly’s Contracting and Branham’s Jewelers in Oscoda, Bachelor’s Excavating and Trucking in Petoskey and Boyne Highlands. She was a volunteer extraordinaire, giving her time and efforts to the Midshipmen Drum and Bugle Corps in Petoskey; sewing uniforms, flags, and chaperoning on trips. Alice also volunteered with the United Methodist Woman’s group, Loaves & Fishes, F.I.S.H and she taught sewing for 4H clubs, just to name a few. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling to different tournaments throughout the state and country for many many years. She and her husband, Al enjoyed traveling and camping in their retirement years, creating cherished memories with family and friends. Alice’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her children, Debrah Dieleman, Donald (Effie Jo) Lindstrom, Denise (Ronald) Schuitema, Christine Domonkos, Vickie Mixter, Lori Mixter; her siblings, Eva Derocher and Larry Davis, along with too many to count grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Alice is predeceased by her husband, Alan Mixter; daughter, Donna Card; siblings, Leslie Davis, Horatio Davis, David Davis, Norman Davis, Elsie Graninger and Rosie Chittle and parents, Martin and Violet Davis. A celebration of her life will be held at the Oscoda United Methodist Church on August 23rd 2025, Pastor Pam Harkema will be officiating. The family will receive guests at 10 am, with service at 11:30 am, followed by a luncheon and the burial at Sims-Whitney Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Memorial Garden or Loaves & Fishes through Oscoda United Methodist Church.
