Lila Sue Stevens Smith December 24, 1934 - April 30, 2019 Lila Sue Stevens Smith, age 84, was called home on the night of April 30, 2019. She was born on December 24, 1934, in Bluff City, Tennessee, the fourth child of William Stevens and Cinda Cenora Sigman Stevens. During the 1950s, she moved to Pensacola, Florida, where she met and married Mr. Leon “Smitty” Smith in 1957, and they later became the proud parents of three children. Together they operated a Pensacola-based small business, after which Sue went on to work as a civil service employee at N.A.S. Pensacola until her retirement. Sue became a member of First Pentecostal Church in Pensacola in the 1970s, and she also attended a number of Baptist churches in the Pensacola area throughout the years. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, William Stevens and Cinda Cenora Sigman Stevens; daughter, Robin Smith Hinsch; brothers, William Stevens and Thurman Stevens; sisters, Audrey Whitehead, Rosa Lee Stevens, Loretta Hardtke; and a special nephew, Sean Hardtke. Those who continue to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her sons, Robert “Bobby” Smith and David Len Smith (Tricia); sister, Grace Hamilton; grandchildren, Erin Smith Moegenburg (Kory), Jordon Smith, and Sommer Hinsch; great-grandchildren, Jesse Moegenburg, Alivia, Patton, Osmani, and Christian Hinsch (Courtney); great-great grandchildren, Naveah and Alora Hinsch; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and friends. Special thanks to those who prayed for Sue during her illness and to the staff of West Florida Hospital who cared for her, helping to make her brief stay there as comfortable as possible. Funeral services will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, FL 32505, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers: Dale Hamilton, Jordon Smith, Christian Hinsch, Tommy Eddington, Stanley Donoway, Shane Caldwell. A graveside service will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens immediately after the funeral.
