Catherine Jane Ettinger, age 69, of Laingsburg, Michigan passed away on July 5, 2025. Catherine was born on May 19, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Mary and William Ewing, who have preceded her in death. She grew up in the Lansing area and graduated from Eastern High School in 1974. Catherine worked in the dietary department at Sparrow Hospital before her career at the State of Michigan Social Services Department where she worked for over 20 years before her retirement. Although it would end in divorce, Catherine married Ricky Ettinger in 1982, and they have remained friends through it all. Their union was blessed with 3 amazing daughters and in time, they welcomed 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. Catherine loved spending as much time as possible with her grandkids, who lovingly called her “Nonnie”. She also enjoyed working on word search puzzles, playing poker with her mom, reading James Patterson books, and being with her whole family. Although she had a stubborn streak, Catherine will be remembered most for being loyal, brave, loving, caring, and giving.

Along with her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Thompson, and sister-in-law, Lorna Ewing. She is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Christopher) Bailey, Nicole Standish, and Krystle (Brian) Crady; grandchildren: Morgan (Anthony) Pinson, Blake Ettinger, Ethan Ettinger, Jacob Ettinger, Rylei Ettinger, Isaac Ettinger, Xavier Ettinger, Princeton Croffett, Jermani Croffett, Julie Standish, Robert Harley II, Samantha Standish, Reggie Croffett Jr., Willow Bailey, and Derrick Bailey; and great-grandchildren: Aydin, Alexander, Amara, Niylah, and Levi. Catherine is also survived by her brother, Gary Ewing; brother-in-law, Greg Thompson; good friend and the father of her daughters, Ricky (Carole) Ettinger.
