In Loving Memory of John H. Gibson III

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of John H. Gibson III, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. John passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy defined by quiet strength, enduring wisdom, and a deep love of family.

John was preceded in death by his parents John H. Gibson II and Letha Gibson, his beloved wife, Sheila Ann Gibson, and his brother, Donald Gibson. His memory lives on through his children: Kris Thompson and her husband Mitch Thompson; John H. Gibson IV; and Deanna Swartz and her husband Todd Swartz.

John was a proud grandfather to Chelsea McMichael and her husband William McMichael, and Marissa Thompson, daughters of Kris; Mackenzie Gibson and Faith Gibson, daughters of John IV; and Maddie Spencer, Emily Spencer, and Noah Swartz, children of Deanna. His love extended to his great-grandchildren, Grayson McMichael, Scarlett McMichael, and Tatum McMichael, children of Chelsea and William; and Zachary Shonk, son of Mackenzie.

He is also survived by his sister, Tonda Craig, and her husband Don Craig; his brother, Guy Gibson, and his wife Marcia; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

John lived a life of quiet dignity, pride, and unwavering love. His love for family was both deep and unique, showing special fondness while remaining devoted to each of them in his own way. He was a steady presence and a strong foundation for his family. Rest peacefully, Dad. Your devotion to those you loved was our first lesson in life, and your memory will always be our greatest blessing.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on August 30th, 2025 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at 1644 Kensington Dr, Bellbrook, Ohio 45305. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share memories of John.
