Susanne L. (Wagner) Akerlind, 72, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of Robert Akerlind, entered into eternal peace at her home on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Hartford on December 27, 1952, Susanne was the daughter of the late Robert Wagner, Jr. and Lorraine (Steady) Wagner. She enjoyed a long career as a manager in the insurance industry, where she was known for her professionalism and dedication.

Outside of work, Susanne had a passion for travel, especially with her husband by her side, and she never passed up the chance to enjoy a fine dinner out with a good bottle of wine. She was an active member of the Italian American Club in Windsor Locks and took joy in participating in its many family-centered events and holiday celebrations.

At home, summers were spent relaxing by the pool—always with a watchful eye to make sure it was crystal clear. A talented home cook, Susanne’s signature mac and cheese and irresistible desserts earned a place of honor in the Wagner family cookbook and in the hearts of everyone she shared them with.

In addition to her devoted husband, Robert, Susanne is survived by her sons, Larry “LJ” Friedrich and his wife Cyndy, and Shawn Friedrich and his fiancée Bethany Schub, all of Enfield; her stepchildren, Kyle Akerlind and his wife Cortney of East Granby, Leigh Akerlind of Windsor Locks, and Bethany Walker and her husband Greg, also of Windsor Locks; a sister; four brothers; and four cherished step-grandchildren.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
