A TIME TO BE BORN

Yvonne Marie Whitaker affectionately known as “Bonnie”, was born October 8, 1944 to the late George Bryant and the late Frances Speaks Bryant in Harrisburg, PA.

A TIME TO LIVE

Yvonne completed her education in Harrisburg, PA school system. She later met her soulmate, James Henry Whitaker, Jr.  Yvonne and James got married and had four children. In the late 1960’s, Yvonne and her family moved to Trenton, NJ, where she worked several jobs and retired from the State of New Jersey.

Yvonne loved cooking, playing cards, and going to bingo and the casino. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

A TIME TO REST

God called Yvonne home to eternal rest on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Capital Health-Hopewell Campus in Pennington, NJ, surrounded by her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by her husband who passed away on March 25, 2025, James Henry Whitaker, Jr.; son, George Stanley Whitaker; five brothers: Stanley, Erza, Marvin, Thomas and Leslie Speaks; three sisters, Mary Diggs, Theresa and Patricia Speaks; and a bonus son who she treated as her own, Clarence McMiller.

Yvonne leaves to celebrate her life her sons, James Whitaker (Judie) and Dwaine Whitaker (Yolanda); her daughter, Yvette Whitaker (Frederick); her bonus children whom she treated as her own, John McMiller, Chanell McBride, and Anthony Walton; her grandchildren: Jamie, Eugene, Brittany, Burnadette, James, Jassman, Dwaine, Jaquinn, and Jamar; a host of great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
