Judy Kay Masterson, 81, formerly of Kincaid, passed away on Saturday, July 5th, 2025 at Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Living in Cincinnati, Ohio with her daughter and granddaughters at her side. She was born on May 28, 1944 in Litchfield, Illinois, the daughter of Ceasar and Marie (Harrison) Ricci. She married the love of her life, Richard J. Masterson, on October 6, 1962 and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2022.
Surviving are her children Susan Masterson (Companion, Jerry) of Wyoming, Ohio and Michael (Amy) Masterson of Tovey, Illinois; sister Marianne Adams; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Kathy Ricci; and 3 grandchildren: Jacob Masterson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Alina Duncan (Jacob) Cross of Brookville, Indiana, and Sarina Duncan of Wyoming, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson Michael J. Masterson Jr., and brother-in-law Danny Adams.
Judy graduated from Taylorville High School in 1962. She was a licensed cosmetologist and provided extensive and invaluable support to the family business, Masterson Funeral Home, until she and Richard retired in 2017.
Judy was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was an avid bowler, knitter, and fan of doing ceramics in her younger years. She sacrificed greatly for her family and was a beloved aunt and friend to many. She loved laughing and having fun until the end.
A private family funeral was held on Friday, July 11th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, Illinois with Father Alan Hunter officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral arrangements were managed by Park Funeral Home in Rochester, Illinois.
