Claude Patterson, Sr., age 94, a longtime resident of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Affectionately known by his family—especially his grandchildren—as “Dad,” he will be remembered for his unbreakable faith in Jehovah, gregarious personality, sense of humor, quick wit, strong work ethic, talkative nature, artistic talents, wise advice, love of driving and fixing cars, passion for photography, and deep devotion to family and friends.

Born in Hogansville, Georgia, on May 9, 1931, Claude was the youngest son of Luella Spearman and Robert Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers James Boozer, Samuel H. Patterson, and Charles Young; his wife Queen Esther Patterson (Queenie); his son Claude Patterson, Jr.; his granddaughter Amber Patterson; and his great-granddaughter Morgan Powell.

He leaves behind his daughters: Valerie Patterson of Stratford; Regina Patterson of Bridgeport; Lisa Smith (Dewitt) of Stratford; Tanya Fussell (Robert) of Ansonia; cherished bonus daughter, Helen Farr-Patterson of West Haven; and beloved nephew Leroy Christy of Zebulon, NC.

He is also survived by his grandsons: Claude Patterson III of Bridgeport and Daymon Patterson of New Britain; and his granddaughters: Brooklyn Council of West Haven, Shonna Johnson of Clarksville, TN, LaTasha Patterson of Stratford, Monique King of Cheshire, Andrea Stallworth of Stratford, and Nyanah Fussell of Ansonia. He leaves behind many beloved great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

His great-grandchildren include Imani Kennedy, Chester Kennedy, Tyler Patterson, Daijah Patterson, Najha Griffin, Ashley Patterson (Suthasia), Kymora Council, Guy Council, Brandon Bradford, Ian Patterson, Theodore Lanham III, Giovanni Patterson, Joshua Francisco Patterson, Kaitlyn Patterson, and Brielle Reeves. Each of them will grow up with cherished stories of the strength, wisdom, and laughter he brought into their lives.

He is also lovingly remembered by his great-great-grandchildren: Kameron Patterson, Leilani Patterson, Eliana Bradford, Aubree Robinson, Leilahani Scott, and Yael Amber Bradford. Though some are still too young to have known him well, his legacy will continue to guide and inspire future generations.

Claude lived a good, long life, and now he can finally sleep in peace. We will always love him—our Dad—and we look forward to seeing him again during the resurrection.

Claude’s memorial service will take place on Saturday August 2, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 3016 Main St, Stratford, CT 06614 at 2:00pm EST.
