William "Billy" Bastin Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Billy" Bastin, who left us peacefully at the age of 69 at his home on July 5th, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Billy faced a long and courageous journey through his recovery from cancer with unwavering strength and grace. His resilience, humour, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Margaret Bastin (Montag) and Gerald Bastin. Billy is survived by his cousins Angie Strome-Pettitt (Chris), and Alyssa Fancey, who were part of the close-knit family that supported him throughout his life.

A heartfelt and special thank you goes to Karen Doepel, a devoted friend who stood by Billy's side throughout his diagnosis, treatments, and recovery. Her unwavering support brought great comfort to both Billy and his family. A special thank you also goes to Bobby Hoffman whose daily visits were greatly appreciated by Billy and his family. Billy will be deeply missed by Karen and John Doepel, and his many friends.

Billy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

As expression of sympathy, donations to Guelph Humane Society or Toronto Sick Kids would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
