Carl Roland Lamoureux Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Lamoureux.

On December 8, 1986, Carl was born a happy baby boy. From his earliest days he was a light. A wonderfully kind and sharp man who had a wide smile that could brighten any room. His niece Sophie said he was the funniest uncle a girl could have—and we’d have to agree.

If you knew him, you know he loved to be outdoors. Growing up, he loved nothing more than summers at Buffalo Lake, where he threw himself into every water activity imaginable—sailing, swimming, water skiing, kayaking. You name it, he did it.

When he was home, he could often be found high up in the trees, in a fort he’d built with his Dad on the acreage where he grew up, a wide smile etched across his face. Rumour has it he taught a few of his younger cousins how to climb a little higher than their parents would’ve liked.

As the years passed, Carl’s love for nature only deepened. He could often be found in the fields around Lamoureux and Fort Saskatchewan, searching for geese to contribute to the many tourtières at Lamoureux Christmas dinners—or hunting other game to fill his freezer. And if he wasn’t there, he was probably knee-deep in a river somewhere, wearing his hip waders and trying to pull in a sturgeon or some other fish—which, somehow, always seemed to be bigger than all the rest caught that day.

Carl was a hard worker who was proud of his work and always strived to learn new things.

Carl leaves behind his mother, Denise Lamoureux; his sister, Marlise (Ramiro); and his special niece Sophie and joins his Dad, Arthur Lamoureux along with other beloved family members who passed before him. He will be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us during this difficult time.

Rather than flowers we ask that you make a donation to Nature Conservancy Canada, 365 Bloor Street East, Suite 150, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M4W 3L4.

Carl passed on July 5, 2025, at the age of 38.

We are going to miss him dearly.
