Michelle “Shelley” Rayson (Dietrich), age 55, of Hammond and Hebron, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at home. Shelley was born on February 8, 1970, in Frankfurt, Germany, the daughter of Richard “Rick” and Judith “Judy” Dietrich (Wade).

Shelley grew up in Brunswick, OH, before attending the University of Cincinnati. She graduated in 1992 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Following her graduation, Shelley moved to Indiana, where she was introduced by her father to her future husband, John. John and Michelle dated for ten years prior to being wed in 2002, and have been happily married for 23 years. Michelle lived a life of service, working for the DCFS before having children, and volunteering across multiple facets of her life. Her passion became the Northlake Pop Warner program, as well as the scholastic division of Northwest Indiana Pop Warner. Michelle helped provide opportunities to countless youth through her devotion to her volunteer work. Shelley spent her life dedicated to helping others, often putting the needs of people around her before her own. She spread love and compassion everywhere she went and embodied what it meant to be selfless. Shelley enjoyed spending time with her family, attending concerts with her family and friends, tending to her pets and flowers, and listening to her favorite 80s music.

She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, John, children, Zane and Olivia; sisters, Shawna (Ryan) Johnson, Sheila (Chris) Robbins, and Jamie Gibson; several aunts, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rick and Judy.

Family and friends may visit at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. Glen Park Ave. (45th Ave.) Griffith, IN, on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., Interment following the funeral at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, IN.

Michelle’s Celebration of Life and Luncheon will be held at the Elks Lodge of Highland, IN, following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family will be used to start a scholarship in Shelley’s name, in which her memory and legacy will live on.
