Margaret L. "Entwisle" Laberteaux Obituary

Margaret L. Laberteaux, age 89, of Lakeville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, July 5, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, John K. Laberteaux, in 2016, her son Richard Enger in 2011, and her daughter Randi Mautz in 2024.


Margaret was born December 28, 1935, in Roxborough, PA, and was the daughter of the late Richard Lee and Doris Beryl (Schofield) Entwisle. Margaret started spending summer vacations with her parents on Lake Wallenpaupack at the age of 12 and continued sharing her love of the lake with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for the next 77 years. Formerly of Doylestown, in 1973 she and her family made the move to live year-round in Lakeville on Lake Wallenpaupack. Although she spent most of her time and energy raising her children, she did work as a secretary for Pocono Pest in the 1980’s. In 1983, Margaret moved to the Lehigh Valley where she met John. They were married at the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem and the family remained active members of the church.


She is survived by her children: Robin Bestel of Las Vegas, NV, Radune Mautz of Pittsburgh, Jim Mautz (husband of Randi) of Bethlehem, Cynthia Enger (wife of Richard) of Lakeville, Jan Abbott and her husband Paul of Edwards, CO, Judy Laberteaux of Florence, Italy, and Jeffrey Laberteaux and his wife Colleen of Hellertown, PA. .


She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley Bestel, Megan Kochin, Joseph Mautz, Maureen Pomroy, Elizabeth Mautz, James Iglesias-Mautz, Richard Enger, Jason Enger, Bryn Miller, Kelsey Schmidt, Devon Abbott, Rubens Albanese and Quinn Laberteaux; as well as twelve great grandchildren: Jude, Sadie, Noah, Nicole, Elliott, Margot, Frankie, Zachary, Bennett, Jones, Parker and Jordy.


Calling hours will be Saturday, July 12, from 11am to 12:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Hawley, 815 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will begin at 12:30 at the church with Rev. Mark Juengel officiating. Burial will be in Lakeville Cemetery, Lakeville, following the service.
