Julius Roy Haley, known to most simply as "Roy," took his final ride on July 5, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in High Point, NC, on September 28, 1940, Roy spent his life navigating the roads and highways as a truck driver, always with a twinkle in his eye and a story to tell.

Roy had a knack for finding treasures where others saw none—whether it was a classic car that needed some love, a fishing spot that promised the catch of the day, or a yard sale brimming with hidden antiques. He could spot a deal from a mile away and would regale anyone who'd listen with tales of his latest finds.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Bonnie Luper Haley, who was his co-pilot through life's adventures. His legacy lives on in his children: daughters Dana Novak (Richard) and Julia Beeson (Tony); son Scott Haley (Chiho); and sister Ruby Ledbetter. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jason Haley, Wesley Clodfelter, Ashley Noble, Ryan Pelchat, and Alicia Haley, as well as his seven great-grandchildren.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Baxley Haley and Julius Haley, and his sister, Annie Boyles, who are surely welcoming him with open arms and perhaps a game of cards.

While there will be no official services, those who knew Roy are encouraged to remember him in their own way—perhaps by browsing a yard sale, casting a line into a favorite fishing hole, or taking a leisurely drive in a classic car. Roy wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
