In Loving Memory of Ricardo “Ricky” Martinez

Ricardo Martinez, lovingly known as Ricky to his family and friends, peacefully departed this world on July 5, 2025. Born on January 10, 1957, in Bogotá, Colombia, Ricky’s life journey brought him to Chicago, Illinois, where he built a life filled with love, faith, and unwavering devotion to those around him. He passed away due to complications from pneumonia.

The beloved son of the late Julio Cesar Martinez and Olga Cecilia Gaitan de Martinez, Ricky was a man defined by love- deeply devoted to his wife, Adele (Gina) Stukas de Martinez, and endlessly proud of his children: Angie, Elena, Maria, Julie, and Carlos. His love extended generously to his grandchildren—Jayleena, Janisa, Lorelei, Cesar, Carlos, John, MaryJane, Galena, Melanie, and Olivia whose lives were brightened by his laughter, warmth, and wisdom. He was a cherished brother to Clemencia and Maria Cristina, and is now reunited in heaven with his brothers, Carlos and Julio.

Ricky was a man of faith, a gentle soul whose heart was guided by kindness and humility. His home was a haven where everyone felt welcomed, heard, and loved. His generosity, compassion, and steady presence uplifted all who knew him. To know Ricky was to be embraced by a deep sense of belonging and care.

His life was a true reflection of his Christian beliefs, rooted in love, service, and compassion. Ricky gave freely of himself, always putting the needs of others above his own. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his strength gave those around him the courage to carry on.

As we honor his memory, we do not simply mourn his loss—we celebrate a life that was beautifully lived. Ricky’s legacy will live on in the stories shared, the values he instilled, and the love that surrounds us still. Though his earthly chapter has come to a close, his spirit remains, woven into the very fabric of our lives.
