Alda Renee Farmer Obituary

Alda Renee Farmer, age 66, of Heavener, Oklahoma, passed away on July 5, 2025.

Renee, a retired teacher, dedicated her life to her family, her students, and to the service of others. She had a quick wit, a radiant smile, and a personality that could light up any room. Her presence was magnetic — she made everyone feel seen, known, and loved.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Renee impacted countless lives, encouraging her students to reach for their goals and creating lasting memories in their school years. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom. She continued to support, love, and cheer on her former students long after graduation. She was more than a teacher — she was a mentor, advocate, and friend.

Renee was born on April 6, 1959, in Poteau, Oklahoma, to Elvin Dee Gossett and Daphne Gossett. She was raised in Heavener before moving to Tulsa, where she met the love of her life, Rusty Farmer. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. While living in Tulsa, they welcomed their daughter, Renell. They returned home to Heavener as a family, where Renee lived for the next 30+ years — grounded in community, faith, and family.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. Renee was certified to teach English, Grammar and Composition, World Literature, English Literature, Newspaper, and Yearbook. At Heavener Public Schools, she was a respected educator and mentor to many students and fellow teachers. Her AP English class was known to be exceptional.

Renee found her greatest joy in being “Momma’na” to her grandchildren. She loved watching her grandson Ryland play basketball and sharing quiet moments reading with her granddaughter Mckinley. She was her happiest in the stands, at home with a book in her lap, or exploring the world through her travels to Alaska, Australia, and New Zealand.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Daphne Gossett.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Rusty Farmer; her daughter, Renell Roberts, and husband Greg Roberts; her grandchildren, Ryland and Mckinley Roberts; and her sisters, Zel McDaniel, Glenda Crouch, and Rhonda Deatherage — along with a host of her beloved niece, nephew, friends, and former students.

The outpouring of love and support from Renee’s students, colleagues, friends, and community is a testament to the legacy she leaves behind. She was deeply loved — and she loved others with her whole heart.

The Celebration of Life Services for Renee Farmer are pending at this time and will be posted once all details are finalized. Renee's family asks that everyone please be patient as their family navigates through the decisions that need to be made during this time of loss.
