Shirley Ann Maddox, age 82, of Springfield, Illinois passed away at 1:51 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at her residence.
She was born April 16, 1943 in Los Angeles, California the daughter of Fred and Frances Smith Bingham.  She married Melvin Maddox and he preceded her in death.  

Mrs. Maddox was a homemaker and had also worked as a security guard.

She graduated from Alameda High School in California.

Shirley is survived by six children Shawna Bates, Melvin Maddox, Jr., Tabatha Maddox, Richard Maddox, Tiffiny Clark and Talisha Maddox.  Eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews that she loved like a mother. 

She was preceded in death by her parents,one brother, two sisters and one grandson Shane. 

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2025 in the Hendricker Funeral  Home in Mt. Sterling. 

Burial will follow in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
