Ruth H. Cadmus (Bandstra) Obituary

Ruth Helen Cadmus, 78, of Brielle, NJ passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 5th, 2025.

Ruth was born on November 25, 1946, to the late Edward and Marjorie (Ackerman) Bandstra in Patterson, NJ and raised in Midland Park, NJ. She was the wife of the late William (Bill) Cadmus who passed away in 2020. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from William Paterson University.

Ruth had a passion for music, especially playing piano and organ. She began teaching piano lessons at the age of 16 and continued to teach multiple generations of students piano in the Brielle community. She was also a dedicated pianist/organist for Trinity Bible Church in Allenwood, NJ.

She married the love of her life, on April 6, 1968. The couple made Brielle their home in 1973 because of the proximity to her childhood summer home in Manasquan Beach and her love for the ocean. Ruth loved raising her two children across from Brielle Park and spending summers at Manasquan beach with family and friends. She was fortunate to have many close neighbors, friends, and church members that she considered family. Ruth enjoyed traveling. She often visited her family in Tennessee and Connecticut, played golf in Orlando, FL, Hilton Head, NC and Myrtle Beach, vacationed with family to Disney and Williamsburg, and adventures to Aruba and Hawaii.  At home, she enjoyed riding her bike, taking care of her flower gardens, walking her dogs (Suzy then Lizzy) and of course talking with her birds (Baby and Gabby).

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Bill, and brother Robert Bandstra. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Livesay and her husband Larkin, Jr of Morristown, TN; her son, Kenneth Cadmus and his wife Deanna of Pawcatuck, CT; 5 grandchildren, Sienna (Braden), Larkin III, Katelyn, Addison, and Matthew; and great-grandson Braden Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Person and her husband William; her brother, John Bandstra and his wife Karen; and a beloved extended family.

Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, NJ.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm with a memorial service starting at 7pm at Trinity Bible Church, 3801 Allenwood Lakewood Rd., Allenwood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or to Trinity Bible Church (earmarked missions) in Allenwood, NJ.  On Thursday, July 17th, 2025, we will gather at Trinity Bible Church at 10am to pay our last respects followed by a procession to Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle, NJ.
