Earl T. Slater Obituary

Earl T. Slater, age 91, of Piqua, OH passed away on Saturday July 5, 2025. He was born in Kayford, West Virginia on February 6, 1934, to the late Albert and Juanita (Grizzell) Slater. On August 30,1958, in Charleston, W. VA he married Janet R. Wells and she survives.


Earl will forever be missed and loved by all those who knew him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter in law: Craig Slater, Germantown, OH; and Mark (Carrie) Slater, Troy, OH; one sister: Wanda Coury, Sarasota, FL; one granddaughter: Michelle Slater and two great grandchildren: Maliyah Ford and Myla Mayor. He was preceded in death by a daughter in law: Lisa Slater.


Earl graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, West Virginia. He entered the U. S. Army to proudly serve his country from 1952 to 1955 as a CPL. He then became a Social Studies teacher at Piqua High School and retired after 30 years of teaching. He greatly enjoyed learning history and teaching it throughout his life, as well as listening to big band music and taking walks to say healthy and fit.


Private memorial will be held at the convenience of the family.
