Robert (Bob) A. Lamothe, 71, passed away on July 5, 2025, while riding his bike – one of his favorite daily activities. Former husband of 21 years to Lisa M. (Laferriere) Lamothe, he was the loving father of Eli C. Lamothe (Kelsey) and Adeline R. Lamothe, and grandfather of Brielle R. Lamothe. He was born in Warwick to the late George and Claire (Loranger) Lamothe with siblings Pauline Olivier and the late George and Roger Lamothe. He also leaves behind his dog and favorite running partner Alfie.

Bob held a passion for athletics – competing in countless swimming, biking, and running races, including 6 full IRONMAN triathlons that brought him all around the country. Throughout his athletic career, he competed in hundreds of triathlons and was always a top performer - finishing first or bringing home awards for the best in his age group. Residents all throughout Rhode Island who didn’t know Bob personally would easily recall a time where they saw the racer pedaling along the side of the road or running with Alfie. If he wasn’t on the road or at McDermott pool, he could be found at Thayer Arena or the Toll Gate tennis courts, as he never failed to miss cheering his children on in their own sport journeys.

Bob was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years, finishing his career as a high school special education teacher at North Providence High School. In retirement, he remained active, spending his days continuing to train for his next race. Beyond his own athletic pursuits, his passion for sports was also realized by officiating high school and college track and field events, as well as high school swim meets, achieving awards for his officiating excellence.

His visitation will be held Saturday July 12, 2025 from 10am-12pm followed by a celebration of life at 12pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.
