Carol Schexnider Obituary

Carol Ann Schexnider, 74, a resident of Lake Charles, LA went home to be with her Lord and Savior early in the morning on June 5, 2025, in a local care facility.

Carol was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her first love was her Savior whom she devotedly followed her whole life.  She was an avid gardener and could grow anything.  We affectionately called her “the plant lady” because she could make anything grow and bloom with her “green thumb” , and took great pride in purchasing plants that were being thrown away and turning them into magnificent beauties.  She loved animals-all creatures great and small and had numerous pets over the years that she poured her care and affection into.  Carol loved her family and family gatherings.  She looked forward to every family meal at brother and sister-in-laws home, and always blessed everyone with her delicious homemade bread that made your mouth water.  Carol also had a tremendous love and admiration for the Jewish people, particularly survivors of the Holocaust.  She most certainly believed in her Messiah, Jesus, whom she always referred to by His Hebrew name, Yeshua, and she loved the Jewish customs, and participated in all the Jewish feasts.  Though she lived on very little her entire life, she gave generously every month to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, a ministry that provides for Holocaust survivors.  She will forever be remembered for her abundant love for her children, her daughter-in-law, brother Mike and sister-in-law Marcia, and her  devotion to her friends.  In today’s busy world when people have little time to communicate, Carol was always the one to call, text, and send cards to keep the family close.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Bertha Brown Schexnider, son, Chad Warriner, 2 children she lost through miscarriage, Renee Danise and Michael Joseph, and nephew, Jeremy Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Andrae (Shane) Warriner, and his wife, Rachael Ewing-Warriner, her brother, Michael Schexnider, and his wife Marcia, nephew, Jason Smith and his wife Jessica, and Erin Smetona and her husband James, nephews, Matthew, Josh, and Christian, numerous cousins and their families, and her very dear & precious friends, Paula Koonce and Patti Harper.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Her Memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home.
