Michael LaPrad Sr. Obituary


Michael "Mickey" Mini Mack" Stephen LaPrad, Sr., 78, of Rocky Mount, VA, formerly of Roanoke, VA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Roanoke, VA on June 27, 1947 to the late Charles E. LaPrad, Sr. and Tressa LaPrad.

Mickey served his country in the United States Navy. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Roanoke City Fire Department after 28 years of service (December 1975-January 2003). Mickey was a former Mason and Shriner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frankie and Larry LaPrad; grandson, Travis Lee Golden, several aunts, uncles and his precious, Ms. Lily.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Peggy BelleIsle LaPrad (married on July 1, 2018); children, Stacey (Mike) Doss, Michael (Melissa) LaPrad Jr., DeWayne (Sherryl) LaPrad; step-children, Dallas (Ann) Elkins, Eddie (Joanna) Schilling, Lake (Sherree) Schilling, Cassie Meikle; grandchildren, Christopher Moore, Blaine (Chelsea) Golden, Kaley Campbell, Ryan (Tiffany) LaPrad, Michael LaPrad III, Camden LaPrad, Charlie LaPrad; step-grandchildren, Corey Elkins, Cortney (Duane) Lee, Hunter Bryant, David Walsh, Kelly (Alex) Whitten, Beazy Schilling, Ann Wesley Schilling, Justin Piano, Jasmin Schilling, Amelia BelleIsle, Liliana Meikle, James Meikle, Jordan Meikle; great-grandchildren, Hazel, Auggie, Rylan, Michael IV, McKinley, Tanner; step-great grandchildren, Raven, Jaden, Joel, Carter, Carson, Carley; brothers, Eddie (Doris) LaPrad, Gary (Carol) LaPrad; sister-in-law, Shirley LaPrad; aunts, Tenny Gilmore, Mary Bethea, Rosemary Maxey; nephews, Kevin (Debbie) LaPrad, Scott (Tanya) LaPrad, Brett (Danielle) LaPrad, Jason (Savannah) LaPrad; numerous cousins and other family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rocky Mount (55 Highland Ave, Rocky Mount, VA 24151) with Bishop Ryan Brittle presiding.
