Steve is survived by: Paul and Carol (Stubbs) Engskov, Mike and Debbie Stubbs, Charles Stubbs, Betty (Stubbs) Harris, David Stubbs, Mark and Lois Stubbs. Since Steve did not have kids, he was very close to his Nieces and Nephews: Andrew Dean, LeAnn Morrissey, Megan Gage, Corie Post, Keri Stubbs, Mariah Harp, Jeremiah Harris, Graham Stubbs, Maurin Stubbs and Isaac Stubbs.
Steve got to be a “Great” uncle to these wonderful people that were his Great Nieces and Nephews: Keilan Morrissey, Madison Gernhart, Grace Gernhart, Navi Prince, William Dean, Drew Dean, Brooklea Dean, Hadlie Post, Hayes Post, Charli Post, Harrison Harp, Winston Harp, Camille Harris, and Violet Harris.
Steve was a very special brother, son and friend. His smile and hugs made you feel special too. He was super eclectic in his hobbies and interests. He loved all dogs, cats, horses, and all family pets.
Steve, with his brother David, kept Stubbs Grocery going long after their parents died. He worked 44 years talking St Louis Cardinal baseball, yelling “WOO PIG SOOIE” for the Arkansas Razorbacks or “Go Bobcats Go”, and, ok yes, he made the best plain lunch meat and cheese sandwiches that kept people smiling and always coming back to see him again. Steve was quiet, funny, and so smart, that he was the first choice for family Trivia games. Some of his favorite collectibles were baseball cards, Universal Monster movies, Beatles memorabilia and music. His favorite meal was chicken strips, mashed potatoes and corn. He loved black and white movies of the 30’s and 40’s, collecting music CD’s, watching reruns from the 50’s and 60’s of the Andy Griffith shows. That was his best entertainment besides watching Baseball and Football games.
Steve was a member of the Church of God Holiness. He also belonged to and was a past Noble Grand of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #82 in Berryville.
Steve was a hard worker, but his nap times were great. His family dearly loved him, and he will be greatly missed every day. He lived his whole life in Berryville and only worked at Stubb’s Grocery his entire life. He had his share of illnesses and hardships, but his work ethic and values were strong. He carried the Stubbs name proudly. He was a very good man to know.
