Mary Gayle Watts Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Gayle Watts, who left this world peacefully on July 5, 2025, at the age of 68, with her family by her side. Born on April 12, 1957, in Madison, Indiana, Mary was a cherished member of her community and a devoted family woman.

Mary graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1976 and went on to work as a machine operator at Jay Packaging, where she built lasting friendships during her time there. She found joy in the simplest of pleasures-spending time with family, playing games, working in her yard, caring for her beloved animals, and enjoying her favorite television shows, especially game shows and westerns.

She was married to her beloved husband, Danny Watts, for 48 wonderful years. Together, they created a loving home and raised a son, Daniel Watts, who will forever cherish the memories they built as a family. Mary is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Aimee Watts, her sister, Margaret Hendrickson and her husband, Larry, her brother, Daniel Marksberry, and her adored step-grandchildren, Alexandria, Alishawnee, and Brendan Stacey.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan G. and Mary Olive Satchwill Marksberry, her brother Harlan D. Marksberry, and her sisters, Mary Cyrus and Martha Jones.

Mary's kindness, laughter, and unwavering strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a guiding light for her family and friends, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A public viewing will take place at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana, on July 10, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will also be held at Collins Funeral Home, starting at 1:00 pm. Mary will be laid to rest at Barnes Community Cemetery in New Washington, Indiana.
