Richard Howard Hargus Obituary

Richard Howard Hargus, 65, of East Leroy, passed away from natural causes on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at his home.


A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Lighthouse of Athens, 310 S. Capital Ave., Athens, MI 49011. Private interment will be held at Leroy Congregational Cemetery in Leroy Township.


Richard was born on February 2, 1960 to Enlow and Elaine Joyce (Burgett) Hargus in Battle Creek, Michigan. He attended Climax Scotts High School and graduated with the Class of 1979. After high school he became a lifelong farmer. On October 14, 1989, Richard married Pamela Lingholm at the East Leroy Congregational Church.


Richard enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling to the Mackinaw Bridge, target shooting, going to tractor shows, and riding four-wheelers.

Richard is survived by his wife, Pamela Hargus of East Leroy; his mother Elaine Hargus of East Leroy; his children, Lyle (Jennifer) Hargus of Athens and Jonathon Hargus of Athens; and his step-grandchild, Matthew Craig. He is preceded in death by his father, Enlow Hargus.
