Ray Grubbs Sr. Obituary

Ray McDonald Grubbs, Sr., 91, of Troutville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church for 47 years, retired from Lone Star Cement after 30 years of service, and was a Contract Carpenter doing volunteer Mission work for the Transformers of the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association following his retirement from Lone Star Cement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Jean Grubbs; parents, Joe and Sarah Grubbs; seven sisters and one brother.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Wood (Philip); son, Ray M. Grubbs, Jr. (Margaret); five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Plunkett (Henry), Vickie Muse (James); brother-in-law, Tom Fernatt; and sister-in-law, Barbara Harris (Dennis); and his beloved Sassy.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 2:00PM at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastor Chris Kingery officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Appalachian Teen Challenge, P.O. Box 19386, Roanoke, VA 24019.
