Joyce Annette Plet Obituary

WAUNAKEE - Joyce A. Plet, age 81, passed away at home on Saturday, July 5, 2025. She was born on August 25, 1943, in DeKalb, Ill., to Harold and Dorothy (Richards) Garman.

Joyce graduated from Kaneland High School in 1961. She attended nursing school for a time at Northwestern Medical School and worked as a health care worker, then as a dental assistant for Carl Hambach Jr., D.D.S. for 26 years. In addition to her work in health and dental care, she also worked as a clerk for the Town of Russell.

Joyce married Dennis Plet in Maple Park, Ill., on December 29, 1964, while Dennis was on leave from the U.S. Army. During her healthy years, both she and Dennis loved the great outdoors: boating, fishing, snorkeling, snowshoeing, really anything on the water or the land. Living in Bayfield, there were always friends over at the house. Joyce was an avid gardener, both flower and vegetable gardens. She had two green thumbs. Dennis and Joyce's lives together were always very water oriented. They lived in Bayfield, Wis., for over 30 years, and then moved to Washburn in 1993. From Washburn they moved to Palm Coast, Fla., residing there for 12 wonderful years. They returned home to Wisconsin to be closer to family in December 2022. Dennis and Joyce enjoyed going to Gus's Diner in Sun Prairie, where her photo here was taken. In this photo, Joyce is showing us her beautiful smile - another personal attribute she was known and loved for.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Laura (Jeff) Boyd; grandson, Jacob Boyd; brother, Richard (Margie) Garman; as well as other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Per Joyce's wishes, a celebration of life will be held in Bayfield at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Agrace HospiceCare or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
