Jimmy Darrel Kyle, 80 years old of Athens Tennessee passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Starr Regional Rehab Center, Etowah, TN.

Jimmy was born July 28, 1944 in Grundy, Virginia. He was the son of the late George E. and Fannie Rose Kyle, and was also precede in death by siblings, George (Jeb) Kyle, and Patricia Belcher.

Leaving behind his wife of 35 years, Meri Lyn B. Rose Kyle; two sons, Jeff Kyle of Hawthorne, Florida and Mike Kyle (Jan E. Kyle) of Tomah, Wisconsin; three step-children, Bonita C. Phillips, of Rocky Top, TN, Ronnie D. Rose of Heiskell, TN and Donnie L. Rose of Heiskell, TN. Blessed with 10 grandchildren; Gemma Kyle Carlin (Paul Carlin) of Glasgow, Scotland, Emily Kyle, Brooklyn, NY, Michael David Kyle, Bristol, VA, Adam Drew Kyle (Jessica Kyle) Knoxville, TN, Matthew Kyle (Taylor Kyle), Tomah, Wisconsin, William C. Kyle, Tomah, Wisconsin. Step-grandchildren, Ian Starnes (Gabby Starnes) Lafollette, TN, Mac Phillips (Heather Phillips) Clinton, TN, Devin Phillips (Jayda Phillips) Rocky Top, TN. Great grandchildren, Jace Emri and Vivian Bea Kyle, and Sophie Rose Carlin. Several nieces and nephews, and a brother, Lawrence Jug Kyle, Sacramento, CA.

Jimmy was an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 32 years in Grundy, Virginia. He was a member of Keith United Methodist Church in Athens, TN.

To honor Jimmy's last request he will be cremated and there will be a family memorial gathering to scatter his ashes at a "special place" at a later date.
